Sometimes people choose to move to the Crystal Coast because they fell in love with its beauty after vacationing on its beaches. Sometimes they are relocating to the area because of a job opportunity. No matter what your reason might be, Al Williams Properties wants to help you get excited for your big move and see all of the amazing potential it can bring with it. Below are 4 Reasons To Relocate To The Crystal Coast.

East Coast Climate

If you are not familiar with living on the east coast, then let us fill you in on the outstanding weather you can expect. The mild, subtropical weather allows for you to enjoy the outdoors for the majority of the year. With summers averaging in the high 80’s to 90’s, it can certainly get hot but the vast options of beaches, water activities and splash pads can help keep you cool.

Spring and Fall average in the 70’s which is perfect weather to enjoy walks, bike rides, patio evenings and even a bonfire. The winter stays around the 40-50’s with the rare snowfall so you won’t be in need of a snow shovel.

Location, Location, Location

The Crystal Coast is in a perfect location to enjoy some day trips to quaint neighboring towns or even a quick weekend drive inland. The 85 mile stretch of beaches is part of the southern end of the Outer Banks. This allows quick access by ferry to parts of this popular vacation spot such as Ocracoke or even a quick drive to Nags Head or Hatteras.

Another town that is right next door is Swansboro, NC which boasts sweet downtown shops and outdoor concerts. Further along the coastline south is Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach which is known for their college, film studio with productions such as Dawson’s Creek and One Tree Hill, and beaches as well.

More inland is New Bern, NC which has a charming downtown district with the historical Tryon Palace which used to be the residence of the British governors of North Carolina. With the Crystal Coast’s eastern climate not receiving much snow during the winter months, it is common for many to vacation to the many mountain towns of the western part of the state such as Asheville and Boone.

High Ranking School System

If you are relocating with children, then the school system is certainly at the top of your research list. Thankfully, the Crystal Coast has some of the highest-rated schools in the entire state with Carteret County public schools. With both high EOC and EOG test scores and even higher SAT and ACT test scores for graduates, the public school system is a great option.

In addition, Carteret County has many private school options that have become available. From charter schools to an outdoor nature school, there is a fit for just about any type of student to thrive in.

Another great asset of the area is Carteret Community College. They offer a tuition free program for high school students to begin earning college credit and even a transfer program that allows you to complete certain courses at the community college and then are guaranteed admission to the 4-year university, saving you money in the process. They are partnered with universities such as the University of North Carolina (UNC), East Carolina University (ECU), and NC State.

Adjacent Military Bases

Many come to the area due to relocation for the military. With the Marine Corps station at Camp Lejeune being located in Jacksonville, NC and the Marine Corps Air Station residing at Cherry Point in Havelock, NC, the Crystal Coast is centrally located to both.

The idea of venturing outside of the typical accommodations typically appeals to many military families, especially ones with children. If you were to live in Emerald Isle or Cape Carteret, you would only have around a 30 minute commute to the base. For those in Cherry Point, a commute from Newport would take only around 15-20 minutes. This option allows for quick access to your work during the week and even quicker access to the beaches and activities that are available on the weekends.
