AB Causeway Study

Town Council has appropriated $15,000 to work with Alta Planning + Design on the creation of a Causeway Corridor Master Plan to better utilize the 200-foot-wide right-of-way along the Atlantic Beach Causeway. As the entranceway and main thoroughfare for tourists, locals, and residents alike, the Atlantic Beach Causeway is of great importance not only to the Town of Atlantic Beach but also serves as the primary access to Pine Knoll Shores, Indian Beach, Salter Path and Fort Macon State Park.

The Town has identified the following items as critical components that should be considered to provide a successful plan:

• Maintain or increase the number of parking spaces for Causeway businesses

• Eliminate unnecessary curb cuts

• Improve bike/pedestrian/golf cart flow along the Causeway and at strategic crossing points

• Improve landscaping.

• Improve visibility for Causeway businesses through wayfinding or other means.
