Beaufort is the fourth oldest town in North Carolina and is known for its coastal charm. Thankfully, that charm doesn’t go away when the seasons change. Throughout the Fall, there is still plenty to do in this quaint waterfront community and some of these yearly festivities are some you won’t want to miss!

Carteret County Arts & Crafts Fall Show

This event is held on the beautiful grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site four times a year and their Fall show will be taking place on September 3rd and 4th from 10 am to 5 pm both days. The selection of local artists and vendors is wind ranged from woodwork, candles, pottery, and clothing.

Stroll the walkways, stop and chat with some locals about their work and enjoy some delicious treats!

Beaufort Pirate Invasion

Get your pirate hat and swords out and come on down to the Beaufort Historic Site to step back in time. September 23 through 25th will be filled with fun pirate-themed events for all ages. On Friday night there will be Blackbeard’s Masquerade Ball at 7 pm with door prizes and a costume contest.

Saturday starts with a brunch with pirates at both the Beaufort Hotel and the Doubletree Hotel from 8 – 10 am. A cannon fire on Gallants Channel at 11 am begins the festival that will be filled with vendors, demonstrations, sword fighting, puppet shows, music, costume contests and so much more.

The favorite part of the day is at 2 pm when the reenactment of the Spanish Pirate Invasion takes place. The pirates invade the encampment and take prisoners before the local militia arrive to run them off so stay clear or you may be “taken”. At 7:30 is the Buccaneer’s Revue, a talent show from the pirates, and dinner by Fat Fella’s.

Another day of fun takes place on Sunday with doors opening at 11 am and a 2 pm reenactment of the Battle of Ocracoke where Blackbeard will appear. A trial for the pirates will be held at 4 pm on the main stage before the festival officially ends. Kids and adults will both love to step back to an age of mystery and intrigue over the weekend so don’t miss out!

Crystal Coast Highland Games

The highland games are a rich Scottish tradition that has finally made its way to the east coast of North Carolina. On October 22nd at Gallants Channel you will be able to hear bagpipes and see Scotsmen don their kilts and compete in the games while you root them on. Classic events such as the stone put, weights for distance, weights for height, caber toss, and sheaf toss will be competed by both amateurs in the morning and invited professionals in the afternoon.

There will also be games for kids as well as traditional highland dancing, vendors, music, beer, and food trucks. At 11:30 am, the professional athletes will arrive by boat led by bagpipes to begin competing in their division. Bring the whole family out to see these amazing athletes compete in the unique events!

Beaufort Historical Association Fall Party

The Beaufort Historical Association will be holding its annual Fall fundraiser on October 22nd at the Beaufort Historic Site. Tickets will include delicious food from Scarborough Fare Catering, artwork by JJ Jiang, and music by Blue Moon Jazz. Come out and support a wonderful organization that does so much for the community of Beaufort and enjoy an evening of food and fun.

These Beaufort events are the perfect place to bring the family out for a day, or more, of fun to make memories that will last a lifetime. Even better, they happen annually so you can make it a tradition to take part in them year after year.

If you aren’t local to the area and wish you could take part in all of these events, give us at Al Williams Properties a call so we can help you find a home in this dream location or a second home to vacation here whenever you desire.
