Throughout the fall, there are still events across the county to bring the family out to and enjoy.
Here are some of the top events in Morehead City that you won’t want to miss!
This event is perfect for everyone in your family. Whether you are an adrenaline seeker or a child who is fascinated by boats, you can get a front row seat to some of this amazing action. While there is no date set yet, it is usually held in September so you can keep an eye out for the release of those details.
This event is held on the Morehead City waterfront where competitive power boats race across the water at speeds over 100 mph for onlookers to cheer. Leading up to the race, you can get a closer look at these powerful vessels while they sit along the waterfront.
North Carolina Seafood Festival
This annual event has become synonymous with Morehead City and rightfully so. Held September 30th to October 2nd, this weekend festival is jam packed with things for the whole family.
Stroll down the Morehead City waterfront looking at local vendors and purchase a few goodies to take home. From local artists, plants, jewelry and even wine, there will be something that catches your eye.
In the middle of the festival are the carnival rides, like the classic ferris wheel, a drop zone ride and even kiddy rides for the smallest of family members. There are also booths with all the classic games where you can win stuffed animals and toys or even a goldfish. On Friday, purchase an armband for $30, which allows you access to all the rides for the day, and $5 of that purchase is donated to the local school of your choice.
On Friday is the Wine and Brine event where you can enter the Chef’s Tent to meet oyster and clam growers, sample their harvests and pair it perfectly with a glass of wine. Local favorite, Seaside Sensations Catering, will also have prepared seafood dishes along with a wine and beer bar. Tickets go on sell August 5th for this event and space is limited.
On Saturday is the annual Road Race! This race goes through downtown Morehead City and participants are able to choose between the 5k or the 10k race. Gather your friends and start off your day with a fun run before you eat all the seafood dishes!
Of course, one of the popular attractions of the Seafood Festival is the music. With multiple stages across downtown, there is plenty of music for everyone. From country to rock to blue and of course beach music, you can come sit and relax with some food or dance stage front!
The last but most important part of the seafood festival is of course, the seafood. Food trucks and vendors line the street featuring every type of seafood you can imagine. Grab a shrimp basket, some clam strips, fried oysters, shrimp burgers, fish tacos, crab cakes and so much more! Your seafood dreams will be made over the course of the three days!
Halloween Weekend
Morehead City has some fun events throughout halloween weekend with Trunk or Treat events across town, such as those held by the Sports Center, Morehead City Parks and Rec and First United Methodist Church.
Trick or Treating will take place across town with fire trucks and police officers making grand appearances and passing out candy at some of the local neighborhoods such as Blair Farms.
These main fall events have become staples to the community along with the weekend attractions of musicians scattered along the waterfront. So don’t fret when the temperatures start to cool because the fun times aren’t over yet!
