Saturday, May 6

47th Annual Wooden Boat Show

315 Front St, Beaufort, NC

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The longest running boat show in the southeast — is the perfect opportunity to admire the craftsmanship and artistry of wooden boats while enjoying a day out with family and friends.

This free event, held each year on the first Saturday in May, celebrates the art of North Carolina traditional wooden boatbuilding and the sport of boat racing. Dozens of handcrafted wooden boats will be on display, along with nautical demonstrations, and activities for children.

Mosquito Run 10k & 5k

Fort Macon State Park • 2303 E. Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC

8 a.m. to noon

Sponsored by Amos Mosquitos & Fort Macon State Park, the Mosquito Run benefits Friends of Fort Macon. It features one of the most challenging courses in Eastern North Carolina.

The race starts and finishes in front of a restored 200-year-old fort. The course crosses natural wetlands and continues through an early growth maritime forest and thickets. The course then continues through pristine sand dunes on a hard pack trail. The 10K course steps up the challenge with a segment along the oceanfront beach.

Bike the Banks

Emerald Isle Community Center • 203 Leisure Lane adjacent to Town Hall

7:30 a.m.

Bike the Banks offers three different bicycle rides to complete. The century ride is a 100-mile round trip route from Emerald Isle to Harkers Island. There is also a 50-mile ride to Fort Macon State Park and back, and a 10-mile round trip ride to the Eastern Regional Access.

Participants in all three races will meet at the Emerald Isle Community Center to register and receive important details before the event begins at 7:30 a.m. Register for the race here.

Atlantic Beach International Food Festival

201 West Atlantic Boulevard, Atlantic Beach

Noon to 8 p.m.

A spring and summer kickoff to celebrate the season while supporting local restaurants and businesses and other NC-based food vendors.

The event is free and will include international food and beverage offerings and dance performances, as well as a sandcastle building contest, kite contest, and more! A family and pet friendly event.

Organizers ask that you register so they can get a good head-count before the event.

Beaufort Music Festival

293 W. Beaufort Road Extension

The two-day festival takes place on property adjacent to Gallants Channel. There will be food trucks, vendors, beer tents and a kid’s area. This year’s lineup is going to bring it like none other before!

Saturday, May 27

Cannon Day at Fort Macon

Fort Macon State Park • 2303 East Fort Macon Rd, Atlantic Beach

Friends of Fort Macon will sponsor one of its monthly Cannon Days. Come out and see an artillery demonstration of some of your favorite cannons at the historic fort.

Cannon firing demonstrations are at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30, 2:30, & 3:30 p.m. Check here for other things to do while visiting Fort Macon.

El’s Cruise-In

El’s Drive-In • 3706 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC

4 to 9 p.m.

Come cruise in at El’s Drive-In in Morehead, City, for fun, fellowship, and ice cream. Check out the unique vehicles, hot rods, antiques, and classics from Crystal Coast Cruisers & Cruzettes.

Enjoy the shade of the old live oak trees along the drive at the historic County Courthouse in downtown Beaufort while you shop at the Olde Beaufort Farmers’ Market, a gathering of the finest farmers, bakers, and artisans the area has to offer.

Bend & Brew Yoga

Crystal Coast Brewing Company • 219 West Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC

Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. to noon

Join us for an all-levels yoga practice syncing breath and movement at Crystal Coast Brewing Company’s Atlantic Beach taproom.

$15 includes 1 hour of yoga and your first beverage. Locally brewed beers and mimosas are available for anyone over 21. Don’t drink? No worries, non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
