9th Annual Bites & Blues

April 9

Organized by the NC Seafood Festival, this annual event has become a sold out event every year. Your ticket takes you across the waterfront to sample bites from different restaurants, sip on drinks and enjoy free entertainment.

At the end of the night, attendees meet at Southern Salt where they vote on their favorite bite of the night and watch the winner receive their award.

Annual Morehead City Easter Egg Hunt

April 14

Children ages 12 and under are welcome to bring their Easter baskets to Rotary Park to search for thousands of Easter eggs! Each selection of eggs will be broken up into age categories and as always, it will be free!

Downtown Derby Darty

May 7

Gather your friends and head downtown for a Kentucky Derby style pub crawl. Dress up in your finest as you stroll the waterfront for a chance to win “Best Dressed” or “Most Dapper” and enjoy all the Kentucky Derby themed drinks and appetizers.

Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

June 10-19

The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is by far one of Morehead City’s most attended events, with a record number of boats last year at 270 and one of the oldest tournaments in the country.

Even if you aren’t a lover of fishing, everyone enjoys coming out to the Big Rock weigh-in station downtown to watch a catch come in to be weighed. The excitement is palpable with even celebrities fishing such as basketball star, Michael Jordan.

The week-long tournament starts off with the Keli Wagner Ladies Angler (KWLA) tournament, one of the largest ladies only events in the world and ends with millions of dollars being won.

Carteret Community College Spanish Mackerel & Dolphin Fishing Tournament

June 17-25

This fundraising event raises money to support Carteret Community College and this will be its 15th year.

With divisions for all ages from Kids 0-9 all the way to Masters age 60 and older, artificial lure divisions, dolphin, bluefish, spanish mackerel, king mackerel, wahoo and TWT (tournament within a tournament, you are guaranteed to find one to enter for your boat and have a great day on the water.

Big Rock Kids Billfish Tournament

July 13-16

The kids specific portion of the popular Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament brings a love of sport fishing to a new generation through a 3 day total release tournament. The tournament benefits local Eastern North Carolina children’s charities and has kid friendly events throughout the weekend to end their days fishing.

With its inaugural event in 2021 landing over 200 junior anglers, this year is sure to be even bigger!

NC Ducks Unlimited Band the Billfish Tournament

July 20-23

Since its inaugural year in 1989, Band the Billfish Tournament has raised over $1,000,000 to help create and maintain various Ducks Unlimited habitat projects throughout North Carolina and in the northern breeding grounds that produce the birds that spend winters here.

The tournament has multiple divisions including dolphin, marlin, and even an outboard division and all participants are entered into the DU Shotgun of the Year drawing in which the winner will receive a Benelli SBE III 20ga.

This free summer concert series takes place along the beautiful Morehead City waterfront in Jaycee Park. Bring your own lawn chair and some friends to dance to a different band each month.

Savour the Summer Soirees

Carteret Community College displays the talents of our area with this fundraising event. Each evening features a different local restaurant chef to create a special dinner that pairs perfectly with crafted spirits from a local distillery, brewery or distributor.

Gather your friends to grab tickets for this limited seating event and support CCC that sends out many great chefs into our area through their culinary arts program!
