The fun never stops on the Crystal Coast, with a variety of October happening that are sure to entertain young and old alike.

Here are just a few, hand-selected by your team at Al Williams Properties.

 

October 6

37th Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival

Shepard and Evans streets, Morehead City, NC

The NC Seafood Festival’s highlights are an endless variety of seafood prepared in a multitude of ways, street dances, concerts, arts, and crafts (about 200 vendors), Flounder Fling and an international award-winning Chef’s Tent, Southern Outer Banks Boat Show, educational exhibits, hands-on programs for kids, rides and games, and the Blessing of the Fleet. Saturday night fireworks dazzle festival goers and neighbors alike. 

The festivities are spread from the N.C. State Port to 11th Street on the beautiful Morehead City waterfront.

While the festival is free, for $30 you might want to take advantage of unlimited access to rides (excluding inflatables and games) on “Armband Friday” (Oct. 6 only).

 

October 7

Twin Bridges 8k Race

7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Price: $45-$50

If you want to get in a good run before indulging in the Seafood Festival delights, sign up for the festival’s Twin Bridges Race.

A certified 8K runner’s course, the race perfect for beginners and veterans alike. The event kicks off at the NOAA Laboratory in Beaufort and takes the scenic route over the Morehead City Bridge, through historic downtown Morehead City, over the Atlantic Beach Bridge, and ends at the finish line right on the AB Causeway.

This race is a chance to test your endurance and experience captivating views over two bridges and the incredible scenery of the Crystal Coast.

 

October 14

Morehead City Barktober Festival

9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Rotary Dog Park, Rotary Park 2203 Mayberry Loop Road, Morehead City, NC

Bring your canine companion to Morehead City Parks and Recreation’s Barktober Fest. There will be a pet costume contest, dog walk, food vendors, and various other pet resources.

The event is free, with a $1 fee if you are entering you pet in the costume contest. Registration can be found online at moreheadcitync.org.

 

Old Beaufort Farmer’s Market

Take a stroll under majestic Live Oak trees and see some of the best the Crystal Coast has to offer from local farmers, fishermen, bakers, artists, artisans and more.

This Saturday will feature a cake baking contest, with the first-place cake winning a blue ribbon, a $50 gift certificate to be used for market goods, and, of course, bragging rights. Kids and adults are welcome to enter. Both inexperienced and experienced bakers are eligible, but all cakes must be made by the entrant in a home kitchen. Enter here.

 

October 21

Crystal Coast Highland Games

293 West Beaufort Road Extension, Beaufort, NC 28516

9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Town of Beaufort is teaming up with Crystal Coast Highland Games for a fun-filled day. Highland games are events held in Scotland and other countries as a way of celebrating Scottish and Celtic culture, especially that of the Scottish Highlands.

The event in Beaufort will feature:

  • Highland Bagpipes
  • Highland Dance Demonstrations
  • Clan Booths
  • Food Trucks and a Beer Tent featuring local breweries
  • Kids Area
  • Vendors

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. Children 12 and under get in free.

 

CedarFest 2023

Boathouse Creek P­ark, Cedar Point, NC

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Town of Cedar Point is hosting CedarFest, a family-friendly event featuring live music; food and craft vendors; military, law enforcement, fire and EMS vehicles, cars, and boats; games; kayaking; a bounce house and slide for kids; and much more!

The Boathouse Creek Park is located at the end of Masonic Avenue in Cedar Point at the juncture of Boathouse Creek and the White Oak River. It features several walking trails of various lengths and difficulty, a 200’ pier with covered pavilion, and a kayak launch.

To get there from Cedar Point Boulevard, turn at the light between Neuse Sport Shop and Performance East and follow the road directly into the park.

 

October 28-29

Carolina Kite Festival

1400 E. Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kites Unlimited presents the 36th Annual Carolina Kite Festival at Sands Villa Resort in Atlantic Beach! Bring the whole family, your kites, and cameras to enjoy a weekend of kite flying.

There will be kites of all sorts and sizes flying all weekend!

Halloween Events

October 25

Morehead City Trunk or Treat

Morehead City Recreation Center, 1600 Fisher Street.

5:30 to 7 p.m.

Get your kids in their costumes and get ready for some candy and fun! Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the annual Trunk or Treat from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Morehead City Recreation Center, 1600 Fisher Street.

Sign-ups to host a trunk are online at moreheadcitync.org. Candy donations will be accepted. Register to host by clicking the event link.

 

October 26

Crystal Coast Civic Center Trunk or Treat

Carteret Community College, 3505 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC

5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Carteret Community College is hosting its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat! The event will have inflatables, food trucks, games, and plenty of candy.

 

October 27

Trunk or Treat @ Atlantic Beach Town Park

Atlantic Beach Skatepark and Miniature Golf

915 West Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC

6-8 p.m.: Trunk or Treating, followed by the movie, “Hocus Pocus,” beginning 8:30 p.m.

Put on your costume and grab a bag for candy for Trunk or Treat, hosted by Atlantic Beach Police department. 

The free event will feature candy, music, games, $1 mini golf, and a movie! “Hocus Pocus” will begin at 8:30 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to wear costumes and bring a bag for candy!

Help the police department by volunteering to bring a trunk! Decoration ideas are endless & you must agree to provide your own candy. Click here to register a trunk for your business.
